Israel Announces New Humanitarian Steps for Gaza Amid Deepening Crisis

Israel has announced new measures to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, including resuming airdrops of aid and creating special humanitarian corridors, while denying claims of famine in the region.

The humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, under Israeli blockade, continues to worsen, with civilians struggling to access basic necessities such as food, medicine, and clean water due to Israeli military actions. In response to growing international pressure, Israel has announced new steps to address the situation.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that airdrops of aid will resume, with seven pallets of supplies containing flour, sugar, and canned goods. Special humanitarian corridors will be established to ensure the safe movement of UN convoys carrying food and medicine. Additionally, humanitarian pauses may be implemented in densely populated areas to facilitate aid distribution.

The IDF also announced that an electricity line to a seawater desalination plant in Gaza has been reconnected, increasing daily water production to 20,000 cubic meters.

In its statement, the IDF denied claims of famine in Gaza, calling it a “false campaign led by Hamas.” The IDF emphasized that the responsibility for food distribution lies with the United Nations (UN) and international aid organizations, urging them to improve the efficiency of aid delivery and ensure that supplies do not fall into Hamas’ hands.

The IDF also reiterated that military operations in Gaza will continue, with the goals of retrieving all hostages and eliminating Hamas.
