Nasser Hospital in Gaza: At Least 100 Injured Brought Daily Amid Israeli Attacks

Kokcha News Agency: Atif al-Hut, the director of Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza, stated that the health system in the region is collapsing due to Israel’s escalating attacks.

In a video released by Gaza’s Health Ministry, Hut emphasized that Israel continues to target displaced civilians who are gathering for aid, resulting in an average of 100 injured people arriving at the hospital each day.

Hut highlighted that these injured individuals require various medical interventions, including surgical operations, but the hospital is struggling due to a severe shortage of medical supplies. Israel’s blockade has prevented the entry of humanitarian aid, including essential medical equipment, into Gaza.

Currently, Nasser Hospital is the only functioning health facility in southern Gaza, supported by a few field hospitals that are also insufficient to meet the overwhelming demand.

Hut described the health situation in the region as catastrophic, stating, “I don’t think there is anywhere else in the world with such a heavy health burden. The number of injured is too high, and we have no resources. We set up a 100-bed field hospital in coordination with the World Health Organization, but it’s still not enough. We are now treating the injured on the streets.”

Addressing healthcare professionals worldwide, Hut asked, “Has anyone heard of anything like this happening in human history before?”

Gaza is “Dying of Hunger”
Under Israel’s relentless attacks and tight blockade, Gaza is experiencing a humanitarian catastrophe characterized by widespread hunger, lack of water, medicine, medical supplies, and hygiene materials. Deaths from starvation, particularly among children, are increasing.

Since October 7, 2023, 147 people, including 88 children, have died from starvation in Gaza. Local and international observers accuse Israel of using “hunger and thirst as weapons.”

Israel’s military has destroyed 88% of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure and frequently targets areas where displaced Palestinians are sheltering. Out of Gaza’s population of approximately 2.3 million, around 2 million have been displaced, many multiple times.

Displaced Palestinians are struggling to survive in makeshift tents or overcrowded schools with inadequate hygiene facilities, leading to the spread of infectious diseases. Meanwhile, Israel continues its daily attacks, bombing tents and civilian shelters where displaced people are taking refuge.

Since October 7, 2023, at least 60,239 Palestinians have been killed, and 146,894 have been injured in Israeli attacks on Gaza.
