Israeli TV Mocks Palestinian Mother Whose Daughter Died of Starvation in Gaza

Channel 14, a television network close to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has sparked outrage by mocking a Palestinian mother whose 4-year-old daughter died of starvation in Gaza.

Kokcha News Agency: In a broadcast on Channel 14, a network known for its proximity to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a Palestinian mother, Tahrir Abu Daher, whose 4-year-old daughter Razan Abu Zaher died of starvation in Gaza, was ridiculed.

The program claimed that there is “no food shortage” in Gaza, despite the fact that Israel’s blockade has led to widespread hunger and starvation.gazze-aa-2381871 Israeli TV Mocks Palestinian Mother Whose Daughter Died of Starvation in Gaza

During the show, a guest argued that parents of children who have become symbols of starvation in Gaza appear “healthy and even obese,” suggesting that some may have “obesity issues.”

When a photo of Tahrir Abu Daher was shown, Channel 14 host Shimon Riklin remarked, “Let’s put the photo on the screen. When you see the mother, it will be clearer why the child died of hunger. This is not a woman suffering from famine.”

Channel 14 reporter Tamir Morag added, “No, this is not a woman suffering from famine. This is a woman who might have eaten all her child’s food,” prompting laughter in the studio. Another female guest went further, saying, “She ate the whole goat,” while another guest joked, “She ate her child.”

The mocking continued throughout the program, with guests making insensitive comments about the grieving mother.israil-gazze-saldiri-aa-2315815 Israeli TV Mocks Palestinian Mother Whose Daughter Died of Starvation in Gaza

Gaza’s Hunger Crisis
The incident comes as Gaza faces a severe humanitarian crisis, with Israel’s blockade restricting the entry of food, water, medicine, and hygiene supplies. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently claimed on his X (formerly Twitter) account, “There is no hunger in Gaza, and there is no policy of hunger in Gaza.”

However, local and international observers have accused Israel of using “hunger and thirst as weapons.” Since October 7, 2023, at least 154 Palestinians, including 89 children, have died from starvation in Gaza.
