US Envoy to Visit Gaza Aid Sites Friday After Meeting with Israeli Prime Minister

White House special envoy Steve Witkoff met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and will visit Gaza on Friday to inspect aid delivery, as global pressure mounts to allow more food and medical supplies into the besieged enclave.

Kokcha News Agency:  White House special envoy Steve Witkoff met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday and is scheduled to visit Gaza on Friday to inspect aid delivery sites. The visit comes amid increasing international pressure on Israel to allow more food and medical supplies into the Palestinian enclave, where a severe humanitarian crisis persists.

In a related development, Canada announced it will recognize a Palestinian state in September, following similar announcements by France and the UK. France has already stated its intention to recognize Palestine, while the UK has indicated it will do so if Israel fails to take steps toward a Gaza ceasefire.

Meanwhile, the humanitarian situation in Gaza remains dire. The enclave’s health ministry reported that dozens of people were killed and hundreds injured overnight in northern Gaza after Israeli forces opened fire near an aid distribution site. The incident highlights the ongoing dangers faced by Palestinians trying to access essential supplies amid the ongoing conflict.
