Armed Gangs Kill 5, Abduct 50 in Nigeria’s Zamfara State
In a series of 16 attacks by armed gangs in Nigeria’s Zamfara State, 5 people were killed, and 50 others were kidnapped, as the country continues to grapple with rising violence and ransom kidnappings.

Kokcha News Agency – Armed gangs have carried out 16 separate attacks in Nigeria’s northwestern Zamfara State, resulting in the deaths of 5 people and the abduction of 50 others, according to local media reports.
Nigeria has long been battling violence from armed gangs, as well as terrorist groups like Boko Haram and ISIS-West Africa Province (ISWAP). The gangs often target villages, schools, and travelers in the northern regions, demanding ransoms for the release of kidnapped victims.
Despite the death penalty being the legal punishment for kidnapping in Nigeria, ransom kidnappings remain rampant. In a recent incident last week, 38 out of 56 people kidnapped in Zamfara State were killed even after ransoms were paid.
The situation highlights the growing insecurity in the region, where even paying ransoms does not guarantee the safety of victims. Authorities are struggling to contain the violence, which has left many communities in fear and desperation.
