US Envoy Calls for Diplomacy to End Violence in Syria
US Special Representative for Syria and Ambassador to Ankara, Tom Barrack, emphasized diplomacy as the best path to halt violence and achieve a peaceful, lasting solution in Syria, following recent clashes in Suwayda and Manbij.

Kokcha News Agency– US Special Representative for Syria and Ambassador to Ankara, Tom Barrack, addressed the recent clashes in Syria, particularly in Suwayda and the northeastern region of Manbij. In a statement on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Barrack stated, “Diplomacy is the best way to stop violence and achieve a peaceful, lasting solution.”
Barrack expressed pride in the US’s role in mediating a resolution in Suwayda and, alongside France, facilitating the reintegration of the northeast into a unified Syria. He urged all parties to maintain calm and resolve disputes through dialogue without further bloodshed.
“The path ahead belongs to the Syrians. We call on all parties to preserve calm and resolve conflicts through dialogue. Syria deserves stability. Syrians deserve peace,” he added.
The clashes in Manbij involved an attack by the PKK/YPG terrorist group in the southern countryside, leaving seven people injured. In Suwayda, illegal armed groups violated the ceasefire, attacking internal security forces and resulting in the death of one security officer.
