Floods Hit India and China: 4 Dead in India, Tens of Thousands Evacuated in China
Severe floods and mudslides have struck northern India and southern China, leaving at least four dead in India and forcing tens of thousands to evacuate in China.

Kokcha News Agency – Heavy rains and landslides have caused devastating floods in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, leaving four people dead and at least 100 missing. In China’s southern Guangdong province, tens of thousands have been evacuated as rivers overflow and floodwaters continue to rise.
India: Mudslides and Floods in Uttarakhand:
In the mountainous region of Uttarakhand, India, torrential rains triggered landslides and mudslides, burying homes under meters of mud. Rescue operations are underway to save those trapped, and search efforts have been launched to locate the missing. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences for the victims and pledged to mobilize all available resources for relief efforts.
Uttarakhand, home to the Himalayas, has over 10,000 glaciers, many of which are melting due to global warming, exacerbating the frequency and intensity of floods in the region. In 2021, similar floods in Uttarakhand claimed at least 200 lives.
China: Evacuations and Rising Waters in Guangdong:
In neighboring China, the southern province of Guangdong has also been hit by severe flooding. Tens of thousands of residents have been ordered to evacuate as rescue teams work to save thousands trapped in their homes. Chinese authorities have warned that at least four rivers in the region are at risk of overflowing, and heavy rains are expected to continue.
