Helicopter Crashes into Barge on Mississippi River in Illinois, 2 Dead
A helicopter crashed into a barge on the Mississippi River in Illinois after hitting a power line, resulting in the deaths of two people on board.
Kokcha News Agency: Authorities in the U.S. state of Illinois reported that a helicopter crashed into a barge on the Mississippi River after striking a power line.
The incident occurred in the East Alton area, and the helicopter caught fire upon impact. Officials confirmed that the two people aboard the helicopter died in the crash.
Authorities also stated that no one was on the barge at the time of the accident. Following the crash, fire and medical teams were dispatched to the scene, and commercial traffic on the Mississippi River was temporarily halted.
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are expected to investigate the cause of the crash.
