Kokcha News Agency: Several former Afghan soldiers have stated that local Taliban officials in Gardez, the capital of Paktia province, have ordered them to evacuate their homes and leave the area. These soldiers claim that the land for these houses was allocated to them by the former Afghan government approximately twenty years ago, and after completing legal procedures, they built homes on it.
According to them, despite an official order from Mullah Yaqoob, the Taliban’s Defense Minister, to set rent for these homes, the order has not been implemented in the province, and local officials have refused to comply.
The former soldiers allege that the eviction process is not being carried out on orders from the central Taliban leadership but by the provincial governor, the head of intelligence, and the Taliban’s corps commander in the province, with the aim of distributing the land among themselves.
The Taliban have not yet responded to these allegations.
This comes just days after residents of the “Charandoy” blocks in Kabul reported that a Taliban-affiliated committee had warned them to vacate their homes.
