Afghan Women Protesters Urge International Community to Arrest Taliban Officials
On the fourth anniversary of the Taliban’s return to power, Afghan women’s voices echoed globally as protesters in Ottawa called on the international community to arrest and imprison Taliban officials for their gender apartheid policies.

Kokcha News Agency – On the fourth anniversary of the Taliban’s return to power, the voices of Afghan women resonated from the heart of Ottawa to the world.
Protesters, holding Afghan flags and anti-Taliban slogans, gathered in front of Canada’s Parliament and urged governments to recognize the Taliban’s gender apartheid as a crime against humanity, similar to genocide, under international law.
The demonstrators warned that four years of Taliban rule have created a systematic structure of discrimination and the exclusion of women from public life, which continues to claim victims without accountability.
From the ban on girls’ education to the detention of women for “violating hijab,” the list of accusations against the Taliban is long. Activists argue that it is time for the world to move beyond issuing statements of solidarity and take concrete action.
The support of local Canadian officials and human rights organizations added a global dimension to the gathering, but the protesters emphasized that the path to justice for Afghan women is still in its early stages.
