“Kokcha News Agency” – The Geneva-based civil society organization, Euro-Med, has revealed that Israel’s attacks over six days have effectively leveled Gaza’s largest residential area, the Zaytun neighborhood. Nearly 400 homes were destroyed using remote-controlled explosives, airstrikes, and artillery fire.
In a written statement, Euro-Med provided details on Israel’s recent attacks on central Gaza City. The statement read, “In just six days, Israel has almost completely destroyed Gaza’s largest residential area, the Zaytun neighborhood. Approximately 400 homes were obliterated by remote-controlled explosives, hundreds of airstrikes, and artillery fire. As a result, over 90,000 residents were forced to flee their homes.”
Schools and Mosques Also Targeted
As residents were forcibly displaced, the organization noted that many dead and wounded remain trapped under the rubble due to the explosions and bombardment.
The statement emphasized that homes, schools, and mosques were targeted, and that Israel’s attacks are aimed at fully occupying Gaza and evacuating neighborhoods. The organization described the situation as a “systematic genocide policy.”
Israel’s Decision to Occupy Gaza City
On August 8, Israel’s Security Cabinet approved a plan to occupy the northern Gaza Strip, including Gaza City.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in an interview with Fox News before the cabinet meeting, stated that Israel’s goal is to occupy the entire Gaza Strip.
However, reports in the media prior to the cabinet meeting indicated that the occupation would be carried out in stages. The initial phase would focus on Gaza City, with attacks later extending to Palestinian refugee camps in the central Gaza Strip.
