Khalilzad Fears the Survival of Resistance Against the Taliban, Says Former Minister

Kokcha News Agency – Noor Rahman Akhlaqi, the former Afghan Minister of Refugees, has responded to recent remarks by Zalmay Khalilzad, the former U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan, stating that Khalilzad’s anxiety about an upcoming political meeting in Pakistan demonstrates that the people’s resistance against the Taliban remains strong.

Akhlaqi, speaking on Sunday, claimed that both the Taliban and Khalilzad are fearful of the persistence of this resistance. He added that Khalilzad played a key role in the collapse of the Afghan Republic and the Taliban’s return to power but has yet to provide a clear response to this historical catastrophe.

This reaction comes as Khalilzad recently expressed concerns about a political-civil meeting of exiled Afghans in Islamabad, scheduled for August 25-26. The meeting will focus on human rights, the status of women, and the political future of Afghanistan.
