Uzbek Officials Visit Kabul; Four Major Power Projects to Be Signed

Uzbekistan’s Energy Minister and Special Representative for Afghanistan arrived in Kabul today, with plans to sign agreements on four major power projects aimed at strengthening bilateral energy cooperation.

Kokcha News Agency: Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, Uzbekistan’s Energy Minister, and Ismatulla Irgashev, the country’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, led a high-level delegation to Kabul on Sunday, August 26.

The delegation held their first official meetings with Ahmad Jan Bilal, Director General of Afghan state-owned companies, and Dr. Abdul Bari Omar, CEO of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), and congratulated them on the fourth anniversary of the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan.

According to DABS, agreements on four major power projects are set to be signed shortly between the leadership of the company and Uzbek representatives. These projects are seen as a significant step toward expanding and developing Afghanistan’s power grid.

Both Afghan and Uzbek officials expressed hope that this cooperation will pave the way for stronger economic ties and increased bilateral collaboration in the energy sector between Kabul and Tashkent.
