Gaza Faces Famine: Three More Palestinians Die of Starvation in 24 Hours
Three more Palestinians have died of starvation in Gaza in the last 24 hours as Israel’s blockade and attacks continue to worsen the humanitarian crisis in the besieged enclave.
Kokcha News Agency: The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza has reported that three more Palestinians have died of starvation in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths from hunger and malnutrition to 303 since October 7, 2023. Among the victims are 117 children, highlighting the devastating impact of Israel’s blockade and military attacks on Gaza’s civilian population.
The latest report from the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), supported by the United Nations, confirms that Gaza is now experiencing famine at the catastrophic Level 5, the highest level of food insecurity. The report states that “after 22 months of relentless conflict, over half a million people in Gaza are facing catastrophic conditions characterized by hunger, poverty, and death.”
Gaza is currently enduring a humanitarian disaster, with widespread starvation, a lack of clean water, medicine, medical supplies, and hygiene materials. Local and international organizations have accused Israel of using “hunger and thirst as weapons” against the Palestinian population.
Israel’s military has destroyed 88% of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure, including homes, hospitals, and schools, while forcibly displacing nearly 2 million people—almost the entire population of 2.3 million. Many Palestinians have been displaced multiple times, forced to live in overcrowded shelters or makeshift tents with inadequate sanitation, leading to the spread of infectious diseases.
Despite the dire conditions, Israeli forces continue to target displaced Palestinians, bombing their tents and shelters in daily attacks.
