Former Afghan Foreign Minister Condemns Pakistan’s Cross-Border Attacks, Calls for End to Terrorism

Kokcha News Agency: Mohammad Hanif Atmar, the former Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, has issued a scathing condemnation of Pakistan’s recent cross-border military operations, describing them as “barbaric” and a clear violation of international norms. He emphasized that these attacks, regardless of their justification, only deepen hatred and resentment among the Afghan people, particularly innocent civilians who bear the brunt of the violence.

Atmar drew parallels between Pakistan’s current actions and its past policies, stating that the country is now reaping what it sowed by supporting extremist groups in the region. He argued that Pakistan’s military and strategists must abandon their practice of nurturing and using terrorism as a tool, particularly the dangerous distinction between “good” and “bad” terrorists. He warned that this policy has only led to mutual survival and growth of extremist groups, a point consistently raised by the Afghan government and the international community.

The former minister also urged the Taliban-led government in Afghanistan to learn from Pakistan’s failed policies. He stressed that for the sake of stability, security, and the supreme interests of the country, the Taliban must fulfill Afghanistan’s international commitments. This includes ensuring the consent of the Afghan people by respecting their fundamental rights and freedoms, as well as preventing Afghanistan from becoming a haven for terrorism and extremism.
