Taliban Summon Pakistani Ambassador Over Drone Strikes in Khost and Nangarhar

The Taliban's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday that it summoned the Pakistani ambassador in Kabul and submitted a protest note regarding Pakistani airstrikes in Nangarhar and Khost provinces, which they claim resulted in the death of three civilians and injured seven others.

Kokcha News Agency: The Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Thursday, condemning the Pakistani airstrike as a violation of Afghan airspace in the strongest terms.

The Taliban emphasized that Pakistani forces bombed civilians near the “Durand Line.” The Pakistani military has not yet commented on the drone strikes in eastern Afghanistan. The ministry added that Pakistan’s airstrikes are a clear violation of Afghanistan’s territorial integrity and a provocative act.

The statement said, “The Pakistani side has been clearly told that protecting Afghanistan’s territory is a red line for the Islamic Emirate, and such irresponsible actions will not go unanswered.”

Sources familiar with Afghanistan International said that on Wednesday evening, fighters from Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan and the Hafez Gul Bahadur group were attacked in the provinces of Khost, Nangarhar, and Kunar. The Taliban have not commented on the drone strike in Kunar province.

The National Television of Nangarhar, under the control of the Taliban, reported that at least four people, including a woman and three children, were injured in two drone strikes in the Shinwari district last night.

The spokesman for the Taliban governor in Khost also announced that three children were killed and five people, including women and children, were injured in Pakistani military drone strikes in the Sepere district of the province.
