The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), under the Department of Defense, announced that the State Department has approved a potential $825 million arms sale to the Ukrainian government. The sale includes “Air-Delivered Munitions” and related equipment to support Ukraine’s defense efforts.
According to the DSCA statement, Ukraine has requested 3,350 Extended Range Air-to-Ground Munitions (ERAM) missiles, as well as compatible Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment. The necessary official notification has been sent to the US Congress, which must give final approval for the sale to proceed.
The arms package also includes missile containers, spare parts, support equipment, software, technical documentation, training, and logistical materials. The DSCA emphasized that the sale will not alter the “basic military balance” in the region but will enhance the security of a key ally, supporting US foreign policy and national security goals.
The purchase will be funded through contributions from countries like Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway, as well as through the US Foreign Military Financing (FMF) program.
