Gaza Faces Deepening Isolation as Israel Cuts Internet Amid Ongoing Attacks

Kokcha News Agency: For the second consecutive day, Gaza has been plunged into a communication blackout due to Israel’s ongoing attacks on infrastructure. The Palestinian Telecommunications Regulatory Authority announced on Wednesday that fixed internet and communication services in northern Gaza and Gaza City have been completely cut off as a result of damage to main roads caused by Israeli strikes.

These outages, which typically last for several hours or days, have effectively isolated the Gaza Strip from the outside world, severely disrupting vital sectors such as civil defense, ambulance services, and hospitals. The blackout has also hindered the distribution of humanitarian aid and paralyzed daily life in the region.

Israel has repeatedly and intentionally cut off communication and internet networks in Gaza over the past two years, a policy that has been condemned by the United Nations and human rights organizations as “dangerous and immoral.” Despite international criticism, Israel continues to enforce this policy, disregarding international law.

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor documented over 12 complete communication and internet blackouts in Gaza since the start of the Israeli offensive in October 2023. The organization stated that this policy is “systematic, aimed at isolating Gaza from the outside world and covering up the crimes committed by Israel.”
