Kokcha News Agency – The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza released a statement on Wednesday confirming that the death toll in the Strip has now surpassed 63,000, with 59 more Palestinians killed in the ongoing Israeli aggression.
The ministry reported that the victims included women and children, with many others injured in the attacks. The Israeli military has intensified its operations in Gaza, particularly in the northern and central regions, targeting residential areas, hospitals, and infrastructure.
International Reactions and Humanitarian Crisis
The Norwegian Minister of International Development, Asmund Aukrust, has warned that the situation in Gaza is deteriorating daily, describing it as a clear violation of international law. He called for immediate international intervention to address the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in the Strip.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army has declared Gaza City a “dangerous war zone,” effectively cutting off access to humanitarian aid and medical supplies. This has further exacerbated the already dire conditions in the besieged enclave, where hospitals are overwhelmed and basic necessities are scarce.
Political and Diplomatic Fallout
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar has acknowledged that Israel is facing increasing political isolation globally. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Sa’ar criticized international efforts to recognize a Palestinian state, warning that such moves would be seen as a victory for Hamas.
Sa’ar also accused the United Nations of politicizing reports of famine in Gaza, despite overwhelming evidence from international organizations that the humanitarian crisis in the Strip is worsening.
Netanyahu’s Political Survival at Stake
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s political future is increasingly tied to the outcome of the war in Gaza. Analysts suggest that if the war ends today, Israel would face a historic defeat, and Netanyahu would have little chance of winning the next election.
Netanyahu has been criticized both domestically and internationally for his handling of the war, with many accusing him of prioritizing his political survival over the lives of Israeli hostages and the broader security of the region.
Resistance and Regional Dynamics
Hamas and other Palestinian resistance groups have continued to put up a fierce fight against the Israeli military, despite the overwhelming firepower and technological superiority of the Israeli forces. The resilience of the resistance has surprised many, with Israeli military officials admitting that they are facing a guerrilla-style war in Gaza.
Regional actors, including Egypt and Qatar, have been involved in mediation efforts to broker a ceasefire, but so far, these efforts have been unsuccessful due to Israel’s refusal to agree to a comprehensive deal.
As the death toll in Gaza continues to rise, the international community is increasingly calling for an end to the violence and a return to negotiations. However, with Netanyahu’s political survival on the line and the resistance in Gaza showing no signs of backing down, the prospects for peace remain bleak.
