Kokcha News Agency: The Taliban’s High Commission for Migrants announced that on Saturday, Pakistan deported 6,209 Afghan migrants through border crossings at Torkham, Spin Boldak, Angoor Adda, and Bahramcha. Simultaneously, Iran expelled 1,677 Afghan migrants through the Islam Qala and Pul-e-Abrisham borders.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has revealed that 2.3 million migrants have returned to Afghanistan from Pakistan and Iran, both voluntarily and forcibly, with many facing severe psychological trauma.
The UNHCR has also highlighted that women and girls returning to Afghanistan are encountering increasing restrictions on their rights, while ethnic and religious minorities, human rights activists, and journalists are at significant risk.
The UNHCR statement emphasized, “Afghanistan’s limited capacity to absorb such a large number of returnees is exacerbating existing humanitarian needs, rising unemployment, and the impact of natural disasters.”
