Boats Return to Gaza After Weather Delay in Barcelona

Kokcha News Agency:The Global Sumud Fleet, a humanitarian mission aimed at breaking Israel’s blockade of Gaza and showing solidarity with the Palestinian people, has resumed its journey after being forced to return to Barcelona due to unsafe weather conditions.

Organizers stated that the decision to return was made to prioritize safety and ensure the success of the mission, given winds exceeding 30 knots and the unpredictable nature of the Mediterranean.

After undergoing identity checks and resupplying, the boats departed Barcelona at 20:00 local time (21:00 Türkiye time) and are now en route to Gaza.

The fleet, supported by over 44 countries, includes activists, artists, politicians, doctors, and journalists, making it the largest humanitarian mission to attempt to reach Gaza by sea.

Notable figures such as Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, Irish actor Liam Cunningham, Spanish actor Eduardo Fernandez, and former Barcelona Mayor Ada Colau are among the participants. The fleet is expected to reach Gaza in two weeks.
