Hamas Negotiation Team Survives Israeli Attack in Qatar, Thanks to Turkish Intelligence Warning

The Hamas negotiation team survived an Israeli airstrike in Qatar after Turkish intelligence provided advance warning of the potential attack, according to Turkish media reports.

Kokcha News Agency: The Hamas negotiation team narrowly escaped an Israeli airstrike in Qatar on Tuesday, thanks to a timely warning from Turkish intelligence. Turkish media reported that a special unit from Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT) had been monitoring Israeli military aircraft activity throughout the day.

The Israeli Air Force initially targeted a humanitarian convoy in Tunisia before launching strikes on sites in Latakia and Tartus, Syria, as well as facilities in Lebanon. Following these attacks, the Hamas leadership in Qatar became the next target.

The Israeli strike on Doha, Qatar, aimed to eliminate Hamas leaders who were reportedly reviewing the latest ceasefire proposal from former U.S. President Donald Trump. However, the attack failed to achieve its primary objective, as the Hamas negotiation team had already been alerted and evacuated the area.

Casualties and Reactions:

  1. Hamas Statement:
Hamas confirmed that five of its members were killed in the attack, but none were senior leaders. Among the casualties were the son of Khalil al-Hayya, a prominent Hamas leader, and three of his office staff.
  2. Qatar’s Confirmation:
Qatar confirmed that one of its security personnel was killed in the strike.
  3. Hamas Accusations:
Hamas accused Israel of attempting to assassinate its negotiation team and held the United States responsible for the attack.

Turkish Intelligence Role:

Turkish intelligence reportedly tracked Israeli aircraft movements and shared this information with Hamas, allowing the negotiation team to avoid the attack. This intervention highlights Turkey’s active role in the region and its support for Palestinian factions.

The Israeli attack comes amid ongoing tensions in the region, with Hamas and Israel engaged in indirect negotiations over a potential ceasefire in Gaza. The strike on Qatar, a key mediator in the conflict, has raised concerns about the escalation of violence and the potential impact on diplomatic efforts.
