Tyler Robinson, the suspect in the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, has been arrested after confessing to his father. The 22-year-old was taken into custody in Washington County, Utah, following a tip from a family friend.
Kokcha News Agency – Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old suspect in the shooting of Charlie Kirk, has been arrested after confessing to his father.
According to law enforcement sources, Robinson’s father recognized him in images released by the FBI and urged him to turn himself in. Instead, Robinson expressed a desire to take his own life. The father then contacted a family friend, a clergy member, who alerted the US Marshals. Robinson was detained and later taken into FBI custody.
Robinson, who was not a student at Utah Valley University where the shooting occurred, is set to be formally charged on Tuesday with aggravated murder and other felonies.
Investigators found bullet casings with inscriptions, including one that read, “Hey fascist! Catch!”—a possible reference to anti-fascist rhetoric.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox praised law enforcement for their swift action, while Turning Point USA, the conservative group founded by Kirk, expressed gratitude for the arrest.
