Arab World Welcomes UN’s Two-State Solution Declaration on Palestine

Kokcha News Agency:The Arab world has expressed widespread support for the UN General Assembly’s recent approval of the New York Declaration on the Two-State Solution for Palestine. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Arab League, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have all praised the decision, which was backed by 142 countries.

The declaration reaffirms the Palestinian people’s right to an independent state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry highlighted that the overwhelming support for the resolution reflects international consensus on a peaceful future for Palestine. Qatar noted that the vote aligns with several countries’ decisions to officially recognize the Palestinian state in September.

Kuwait’s Foreign Minister Abdullah Yahya commended Saudi Arabia and France for leading the initiative, calling it a “significant step” toward ending the suffering of the Palestinian people.

Egypt emphasized that the resolution demonstrates broad international support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and statehood.

The OIC described the decision as “historic,” marking a global consensus to end occupation and achieve peace. The Arab League’s spokesperson, Jamal Rushdi, stated that the resolution adds credibility to the New York Declaration and paves the way for further recognition of Palestine at the upcoming UN summit on September 22.

The GCC Secretary-General, Jasem Mohamed Al-Budaiwi, called the resolution a “hopeful step” toward regional security and stability, as well as the realization of the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights.

The UN General Assembly vote saw 142 countries in favor, 10 against (including the U.S. and Israel), and 12 abstentions.

The New York Declaration, co-sponsored by France and Saudi Arabia, aims to recognize a Palestinian state (excluding Hamas) and peacefully resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
