TUNISIAN (Kokcha.News) — A women-only boat has joined the Global Sumud Fleet, which is sailing to Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid and break the blockade. The boat, composed entirely of women, aims to send a powerful message of solidarity and resilience to the world, particularly in support of Palestinian women.

Malika, a French nurse participating in the fleet, highlighted the symbolic importance of the women-only boat in an interview with Anadolu Agency (AA). She stated, “With this women-only boat, we aim to send a message to humanity. This boat is truly extraordinary. There are about 100 boats in the fleet, but only one is entirely made up of women. This information must be shared because it is crucial for our safety and the message we are conveying.”G0GqHmMW8AAq1FH?format=jpg&name=large Women-Only Boat in Global Sumud Fleet Sails to Gaza in Support of Palestinian Women

Malika praised the resilience of women in Gaza, saying, “Women in Gaza, who have no resources, are standing strong and teaching us lessons in humanity. They are guiding us and setting an example. We are grateful to them.”

The women’s boat also honors the women who attempted to break the Gaza blockade in 2016 but were stopped by Israel. Malika emphasized, “Our goal is not only to break the blockade but also to open a humanitarian corridor. Gaza has been deprived of aid for months, even years. This change is vital.”

Malika also spoke about the unity among the women from different countries, saying, “We came from Europe, South America, and Asia, but we are here for the same purpose. Even if we don’t know each other, the solidarity between us is very strong.”

She added, “Our presence here as women represents the strength and determination of Palestinian women. The most important reason for our presence here is to fight for women.”

The term “Sumud”, which means “steadfastness” or “unwavering determination” in Arabic, became a concept of resistance among Palestinians after the Six-Day War in 1967. It symbolizes the Palestinian people’s resilience in staying on their land, preserving their identity and culture, and resisting occupation through non-violent civil disobedience and the construction of alternative institutions.
