BERLIN (Kokcha.News) — A 20-year-old man was stabbed to death during a violent clash between two groups of migrants near the Humboldt Forum, a cultural and arts center in Berlin. While police have not released details about the identities of those involved, German media reports suggest the altercation occurred between groups of Afghan and Syrian migrants on Friday night.
According to a statement from the Berlin Police, “Three individuals were attacked by a group of approximately 15 people. A 20-year-old man suffered life-threatening stab wounds and died in the hospital. Two other men from the smaller group sustained minor injuries.”
Conflicting reports have emerged about the incident. The Tagesspiegel newspaper reported that three Afghan youths were attacked by a group of 15 Syrians, while other outlets, including Bild and Welt, claimed that three Syrian youths were attacked by a larger group of Afghans, resulting in one death.
Authorities have launched an investigation, with the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Homicide Commission working to clarify the details and identify those responsible. Media reports also noted that in August, a similar clash between Afghan and Syrian migrants occurred in the same area, leaving six people injured.
In the August incident, three individuals, including a 14-year-old girl, were temporarily detained. The girl was later handed over to child protective services, and police later clarified that the three were merely witnesses to the altercation.
