Pakistan PM Warns Taliban: Choose Between Islamabad and Pakistani Taliban

ISLAMABAD (Kokcha.News) — Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, issued a stern warning to the Taliban in Afghanistan, stating that they cannot simultaneously host militants destabilizing Pakistan while expecting normal relations with Islamabad.

During a visit to Bannu with Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff, Sharif chaired an emergency meeting on counter-terrorism and attended the funeral of soldiers killed in recent operations. The Pakistani military reported that 12 soldiers and 35 militants were killed in operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from September 10 to 13.

Sharif emphasized that Pakistan will respond decisively to terrorism, stating, “There will be no hesitation or ambiguity in our response.” He accused the planners of terrorist attacks in Pakistan of operating from Afghan soil with support from India.

The Prime Minister added, “Afghanistan [the Taliban] has been clearly told that it must choose between Islamabad or the militants.” Sharif also reiterated Pakistan’s stance on deporting Afghan refugees, claiming that some Afghan citizens were involved in recent attacks.

He warned, “Those who support militants or assist India in carrying out proxy terrorist acts will be treated as their agents and dealt with according to the law.”

Sharif praised the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for standing with the government and armed forces against what he described as Indian-backed proxies. He assured that the government would take all necessary administrative and legal measures to respond firmly to terrorism.

During his visit, Sharif also met with injured soldiers at a military hospital in Bannu. Pakistan has repeatedly accused the Taliban and India of supporting militant groups, particularly the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), allegations both the Taliban and India have consistently denied.
