UN Commission Accuses Israel of Genocide in Gaza

Kokcha News Agency – The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Palestine, during the 60th session of the UN Human Rights Council, released its report on the latest situation in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories. The report states that Israel has committed genocide against Palestinians in Gaza and urges Israel and all countries to fulfill their international legal obligations to end the genocide and hold the perpetrators accountable.

The commission has been investigating events since October 7, 2023, and concluded that “Israeli authorities and military have carried out four of the five acts defined in the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide: killing, causing serious bodily or mental harm, deliberately inflicting conditions of life calculated to bring about the physical destruction of Palestinians in whole or in part, and imposing measures intended to prevent births.”

The report also emphasizes that statements by Israeli civilian and military officials, as well as the actions of Israeli security forces, indicate that these measures were carried out with the intent to destroy Palestinians in Gaza, either wholly or partially.

Navi Pillay, Chair of the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry, stated in the report: “The commission holds Israel responsible for genocide in Gaza. It is clear that Israel, through actions that meet the criteria outlined in the Genocide Convention, intends to destroy the Palestinians in Gaza.”
