Over Three Million Afghans Face Displacement and Humanitarian Crisis: UN

The United Nations has reported that over three million people in Afghanistan are displaced by conflict and instability, warning that urgent international aid is needed to address the deepening humanitarian crisis.

Kokcha News Agency – The United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR) announced on Tuesday that Afghanistan is facing a worsening humanitarian and displacement crisis, with more than three million people forced from their homes due to recent conflict and instability.

In its latest update, UNHCR highlighted the dire situation faced by displaced families, who are left without shelter, food, and basic services. The agency emphasized that financial support is critical to provide life-saving assistance and emergency protection for internally displaced Afghans. However, only about one percent of UNHCR’s operational budget for Afghanistan is currently covered through UN allocations, leaving a severe funding gap.

UNHCR called on donor governments and international partners to deliver immediate humanitarian aid to support Afghanistan’s most vulnerable populations, particularly women and children. Aid workers warned that without urgent resources, millions could be pushed deeper into poverty, hunger, and displacement, especially as winter approaches.

Humanitarian observers stressed that Afghanistan’s crisis underscores the consequences of under-funding and urged the international community to take swift action to prevent a worsening emergency in a country already grappling with instability.
