U.S. Secretary of State Discusses Regional Security and Stability with Qatari Leaders

Kokcha News Agency – U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during his visit to Doha, held meetings with Qatari leaders, including Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Prime Minister, and the Foreign Minister. In a post on his X account, Rubio emphasized the shared commitment of the United States and Qatar to regional security and stability.

Rubio expressed gratitude for Qatar’s mediation efforts in reaching a peace agreement between Israel and Hamas and thanked Qatar for its ongoing efforts to return Israeli hostages home.

The meetings took place as Doha hosted an emergency summit of Arab and Islamic leaders following Israel’s recent attack on Qatar. The emergency summit, held on Monday, September 15, condemned Israel’s attack as a “clear act of aggression” and expressed full solidarity with Qatar.

Leaders at the summit called on various countries to “reassess” their relations with Israel.

During his visit to Jerusalem on Monday, Rubio met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and pledged “unwavering support” for Tel Aviv in the Gaza war. Rubio also assured Israel that “maximum pressure” on Iran to prevent it from acquiring nuclear weapons would be maintained.

Speaking to reporters in Jerusalem, Rubio stated, “The people of Gaza deserve a better future, but that future will not begin until Hamas is destroyed.”
