From Beneath the Surface of the Taliban: Haibatullah Orders Women to Eat 70% Less Bread Than Men
Haibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban’s supreme leader, has issued an order stating that women should consume 70% less bread than men or earn significantly less for food. This directive has sparked outrage, with critics calling it a return to ignorance and oppression.

Kokcha News Agency: In a shocking revelation, it has been reported that Haibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban’s leader, has ordered that women should consume 70% less bread than men or earn drastically less for food. According to the directive, the daily food allowance for men is set at 150 to 200 Afghanis, while for women, it is only 30 to 40 Afghanis.
The question arises: what can be purchased with just 40 Afghanis? This order has been widely criticized as a blatant act of discrimination and a step backward for women’s rights in Afghanistan.
Rasa, a media outlet, has published documents to expose this decree, labeling the current era under the Taliban as one of “ignorance and oppression.” The documents serve as evidence of the Taliban’s regressive policies, which many argue are reminiscent of a pre-modern, unjust society.
This latest directive is part of a series of restrictive measures imposed by the Taliban, particularly targeting women. From banning education and employment to limiting their access to basic necessities, the Taliban’s policies have drawn widespread condemnation from both within Afghanistan and the international community.
