Resistance Front Claims Killing of Taliban Commander in Baghlan

The National Resistance Front (NRF) has claimed responsibility for the killing of a Taliban commander, Mullah Habib Khan, also known as Mullah Sangin, along with three of his guards in a recent attack in Baghlan province.

Kokcha News Agency – The National Resistance Front (NRF) announced on Monday that it had carried out an attack in which Mullah Habib Khan, a Taliban commander leading the Quick Reaction Force in Takhar province, was killed along with three of his guards. The operation reportedly took place last night in the Shara Company area of Baghlan Markazi district in Baghlan province.

According to the NRF statement, resistance fighters targeted a Taliban vehicle on the highway, completely destroying it.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.

The activities of resistance fronts have largely been limited to sporadic attacks on Taliban checkpoints and military vehicles, and there appears to have been no significant change in the scope of their operations or military capabilities over the past four years.

Earlier, the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) reported that between February 1, 2024, and April 30, 2024, resistance fronts carried out 56 attacks against the Taliban across Afghanistan.
