Houthis Strike Two Targets in Israel’s Eilat with Drones: 50 Injured, 3 Critical

Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen launched a drone attack on two targets in Israel’s southern city of Eilat, injuring 50 people, three of them critically.

Kokcha News Agency: The Houthi movement in Yemen has claimed responsibility for a drone attack on two targets in the Israeli city of Eilat, injuring 50 people, three of whom are in critical condition. Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree stated that the group’s air force carried out a “qualitative military operation” using two drones, successfully hitting their targets in the Umm al-Rashrash area (Eilat).

Saree emphasized that Israel’s defense systems failed to intercept the drones, marking the second such operation within the last 24 hours. He also noted that the attack was in response to Israel’s “genocide and starvation crimes” against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, as well as Israeli attacks on Yemen.

The Houthi spokesperson reiterated that the group would continue to stand with the Palestinian people in Gaza until the attacks and blockade cease.

Israel’s emergency service, Magen David Adom, confirmed that 50 people were injured in the attack, with three in serious condition. Israeli state television KAN reported that one of the drones struck near a hotel in Eilat, while the newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth stated that the drone hit a commercial and entertainment area in the city center.

The Israeli military acknowledged that its attempts to intercept the drone launched by the Iran-backed Houthis were unsuccessful.
