“Iran Has Never Sought and Will Never Seek to Build a Nuclear Bomb,” President Tells UN General Assembly

Kokcha News Agency: In his address to the United Nations General Assembly, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian firmly stated that Iran has never sought and will never seek to build a nuclear bomb. He emphasized Iran’s commitment to peaceful nuclear activities and condemned recent attacks on its nuclear facilities as a “grave betrayal of diplomacy.”

Pezeshkian began his speech by highlighting the importance of equality and mutual respect among nations, quoting the golden rule: “That which you would not approve for yourself, do not approve for others.” He pointed to the ongoing genocide in Gaza, the destruction in Lebanon, and the devastation of Syria’s infrastructure as examples of injustices that no nation would tolerate for itself.

The Iranian president condemned the U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities in June, which he said occurred “precisely at a time when we were treading the path of diplomatic negotiations.” He warned that such breaches of international norms, if left unaddressed, could spread and destabilize the global order.

Pezeshkian also criticized the concept of a “Greater Israel,” describing it as a “ludicrous and delusional scheme” that threatens regional stability. Instead, he envisioned a strong and cooperative region where Iran and its neighbors stand together against genocide, destruction, and instability.

“In such a strong region, slaughter and bloodshed shall find no place,” he said, reiterating Iran’s long-standing advocacy for a Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction.

The Iranian president addressed the UN Security Council’s recent rejection of a resolution to lift sanctions imposed on Iran prior to the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). He accused three European states of acting in bad faith and supporting military aggression against Iran at the behest of the United States.

“I hereby declare once more before this Assembly that Iran has never sought and will never seek to build a nuclear bomb,” Pezeshkian affirmed.

He concluded by calling for a future built on cooperation, trust, and shared development for all nations, emphasizing the need for diplomacy and mutual respect in addressing global challenges.
