Fawzia Koofi Calls for Inclusive Leadership and Regional Cooperation at Islamabad Dialogue
Fawzia Koofi, the first woman Deputy Speaker of Afghanistan’s Parliament and a prominent peace negotiator, emphasized the need for inclusive leadership, genuine narratives, and mutual trust at the first Regional Dialogue, "Towards Unity and Trust," held in Islamabad.
Kokcha News Agency: Fawzia Koofi, a leading Afghan politician and peace negotiator, expressed her delight at participating in the first Regional Dialogue, “Towards Unity and Trust,” co-organized by Women for Afghanistan (WFA) and the South Asian Strategic Stability Institute (SASSI) in Islamabad.
In her statement, Koofi highlighted the critical need for meaningful leadership, inclusive narratives, and a people-centered decision-making system that respects equal rights. She described the current situation in Afghanistan as “unbearable,” particularly for women, and stressed that only an inclusive government rooted in the will of the people and grounded in constitutional order can secure peace and ensure lasting regional security and stability.
Koofi acknowledged Pakistan’s pivotal role in this process, emphasizing that constructive engagement is essential to address shared concerns and build a foundation of mutual trust.
The two-day dialogue brought together a diverse group of men and women from Afghanistan to reflect on their country’s future, focusing on unity, trust, and regional cooperation.
