Taliban Erases Biometric Data: Preparing to Return Underground?

The Taliban has ordered the deletion of biometric data of its members from government ministries, a move that suggests the group may be preparing to go underground and hide once again.

Kokcha News Agency: Reliable sources in Kabul report that the Taliban has ordered the complete deletion of biometric data of its members from various ministries, including the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior, and the Intelligence Directorate.

This move indicates that the Taliban may be preparing to return to the shadows and hide, as they did in the past.

This is the same biometric data that was used in 2021 to identify soldiers and officers of the former republic, leading to the deaths of thousands. Now, the Taliban is using the same method against itself—but this time, they are running away from something.

The deletion of biometric data means erasing the past, erasing identity, and erasing accountability. It suggests that the Taliban is preparing for a day when they will have to hide in alleys, caves, and border areas, just as they once lived before deception, before deals, and before betraying the people.

The Taliban wants to escape—not just from justice, but from history. However, history has a memory that cannot be erased by decrees or fatwas. The people will not forget.
