Senior Hamas Official: Ceasefire is the Result of Gaza’s Historic Resistance and Patience

Kokcha News Agency – In a statement early Thursday, Ezzat al-Rishq, a prominent figure in the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), emphasized that the ceasefire agreement reflects the historic responsibility of Hamas towards the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights. He described the agreement as a national achievement that underscores the unity of the Palestinian people and their solidarity with the resistance as the path to confront Zionist occupation.

Al-Rishq highlighted that throughout the negotiation process, the eyes and hearts of Hamas were with the people of Gaza, whose pure blood and immense sacrifices symbolize the covenant of dedication and loyalty. He pointed out that the occupying regime, despite two years of massacres and attempts to starve the population, failed to achieve its goals, and even through negotiations, it could not impose its will.

Earlier, Hamas officially announced the achievement of an agreement to end the war in Gaza, including the withdrawal of Israeli forces, the entry of humanitarian aid, and a prisoner exchange. The agreement was reached after serious and responsible negotiations mediated by Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, based on a proposal presented by U.S. President Donald Trump in Sharm El-Sheikh.

Hamas expressed gratitude to the mediating countries and acknowledged Trump’s efforts in pushing for a complete cessation of hostilities and the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza. The statement called on Trump, the guarantor countries, and all Arab, Islamic, and international parties to ensure that the occupying government fully implements the agreement without delay or evasion of its commitments.

The statement also paid tribute to the Palestinian people in Gaza, Jerusalem, the West Bank, and the 1948 occupied territories, praising their heroic and dignified resistance against the fascist plans of the occupiers. Hamas emphasized that the sacrifices of the Palestinian people will not be in vain and reaffirmed its commitment to the national rights of the Palestinian people, including freedom, independence, and self-determination.
