Torture Marks Found on Bodies of Palestinians Handed Over by Israel

Forensic experts at Nasser Hospital in Gaza have reported signs of torture on the bodies of Palestinians returned by Israel as part of a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement. The bodies, some of which were unrecognizable, showed evidence of prolonged eye closure and other forms of abuse.

Kokcha News Agency – Ahmed Dihayr, the head of the Forensic Medicine Department at Nasser Hospital in Gaza, revealed that the bodies of 45 Palestinian prisoners handed over by Israel on October 14 showed signs of torture and mutilation.

According to Dihayr, some of the bodies were in an advanced state of decomposition, having been buried for an extended period. He also noted that Israel had taken DNA samples from the bodies, but it remains unclear whether these results will be shared with Palestinian authorities.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is reportedly seeking information from Israel regarding the identities of the deceased.

So far, Israel has only provided the identities of three individuals, leaving the rest of the bodies unidentified. Dihayr stated that if the identities of the remaining bodies are not determined within five days, they will be buried with numbered markers for future identification.

The Gaza Health Ministry confirmed that Israel has returned a total of 90 bodies of Palestinians as part of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement.

The agreement, brokered by Egypt and announced by U.S. President Donald Trump on October 9, came into effect on October 10, with a ceasefire implemented at 12:00 PM local time.
