Intra-Taliban Talks in Türkiye Collapse Amid Mutual Blame
Taliban factional negotiations in Türkiye have failed, with the former Quetta Shura and Islamabad accusing each other of causing the deadlock—highlighting deep internal fractures and proxy-relationship fallout.

Kokcha News Agency – Talks between rival Taliban factions, held in Türkiye to reconcile differences and unify strategy, have collapsed. The delegation representing the former Quetta Shura—historically backed by Pakistan—blamed Islamabad for the stalemate, while Pakistani officials accused the group of “ingratitude” after three decades of support.
The breakdown underscores the fragmentation within the Taliban and exposes the crumbling of once-reliable proxy alliances. Former Afghan Vice President Amrullah Saleh commented on the situation, comparing Pakistan’s relationship with the Taliban to “fool’s gold” or a “cryptocurrency crash,” emphasizing the unpredictability and ultimate emptiness of such partnerships.
Saleh further noted that closing Taliban supply routes and support channels across the Durand Line could critically weaken the group. Historically, the Taliban retreated to Pakistan to regroup after military defeats. If these cross-border lifelines are severed, any future Taliban defeat could be permanent.
