Zahedan’s Al-Ghadir Camp; Nearly 9,000 Afghans Still in Critical Conditions
During a three-day official holiday in Iran, a number of Afghan migrants who voluntarily reported to the Al-Ghadir Camp in Zahedan were temporarily released. However, nearly 9,000 Afghan nationals remain in the camp, facing severe humanitarian challenges.

According to reports from Hasht-e Subh, the situation in the Al-Ghadir Camp has become increasingly dire. Sources indicate that the camp’s capacity is overwhelmed, and basic needs such as drinking water, sufficient food, medical services, and sanitary facilities are severely lacking. This has raised serious concerns about the health and human dignity of the migrants.
Local civil activists have launched appeals for urgent assistance from the public and civil organizations to provide water, bread, and essential supplies for the detained migrants.
The conditions for dozens of families, including children and the elderly, are described as highly inadequate and, in some cases, inhumane.
The camp has reportedly become one of the most densely populated centers for holding Afghan nationals in eastern Iran due to the recent increase in the number of migrants and insufficient care.
