Youth from Balochistan Distribute Aid to Afghan Migrants at Al-Ghadir Camp in Zahedan Amid Humanitarian Crisis
Amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis at the Al-Ghadir camp in Zahedan, young volunteers from Balochistan distributed essential supplies to Afghan migrants on Friday, July 4, 2024, in a spontaneous and compassionate response to the dire conditions and neglect by Iranian authorities.

In a heartwarming act of solidarity, young Baloch volunteers arrived at the Al-Ghadir camp in Zahedan on Friday to distribute essential items such as bottled water, bread, watermelons, and tomatoes to Afghan migrants. These supplies were purchased with personal funds by a group of Baloch citizens and distributed among families facing critical conditions.
This marks the latest in a series of grassroots aid distributions at the camp, which has been plagued by severe mismanagement and neglect by Iranian authorities. The Al-Ghadir camp, one of the most densely populated Afghan migrant centers in eastern Iran, has become a symbol of the worsening humanitarian crisis in the region.
One of the young volunteers told Hal o Vash: “The situation inside the Al-Ghadir camp is catastrophic. Many migrants don’t even have access to drinking water, and the overcrowding and lack of sanitation facilities remind us of war-torn Gaza.”
On Thursday evening, July 3, a number of migrants who had voluntarily registered at the camp were temporarily released due to the official holiday. However, sources indicate that approximately 9,000 migrants remain in the camp, enduring harsh and inhumane conditions.
Civil activists have issued urgent calls for assistance, urging the public, philanthropists, and non-governmental organizations to help provide water, bread, and sanitary services to prevent a full-blown humanitarian disaster.
The severe shortage of water, food, medical services, and sanitary facilities, particularly for women, children, and the elderly, has made the Al-Ghadir camp more critical than ever. The camp, which has become one of the most overcrowded Afghan migrant centers in eastern Iran, continues to suffer from a lack of adequate care and attention.
