Russian Military Claims Control Over Five Settlements in Ukraine’s Kharkiv and Donetsk Regions

The Russian Defense Ministry has announced that its forces have taken control of five settlements in Ukraine’s Kharkiv and Donetsk regions over the past week, as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues to escalate.

In a statement released on July 4, the Russian Defense Ministry provided an update on the military’s activities in Ukraine from June 28 to July 4. According to the ministry, Russian forces have advanced in the Donetsk and Dnipro regions, gaining control over five settlements during this period.

The ministry stated, “In the Kharkiv region, the settlement of Melovoye has been liberated, along with Predteçino, Novoukrayinka, Razino, and Çervonaya Zirka in the Donetsk People’s Republic.”

The statement also highlighted the destruction of Ukrainian military assets, claiming that 1,172 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were shot down by Russian air defense systems during the same period.

Since the beginning of the conflict, the ministry reported that 663 Ukrainian aircraft, 283 helicopters, nearly 67,000 UAVs, 612 air defense missile systems, 24,124 tanks and armored vehicles, 1,573 multiple rocket launchers, nearly 27,000 artillery pieces and mortars, and approximately 37,600 special military vehicles have been destroyed.
