Israel Intensifies Air Strikes on Southern Lebanon, Targeting Hezbollah Positions

The Israeli military has intensified its air strikes on southern Lebanon, targeting several areas including the towns of Kefermeleki, Iklim et-Tuffah, Ez-Zerariye Valley, and the regions of Reddi, El-Matariyye, Burj Rahhal, and Erzi near the city of Tyre. The attacks, which were repeated in some areas, also included three strikes on the town of Bevadi, west of Baalbek.

Targeting Hezbollah
In a written statement, the Israeli military claimed that the strikes targeted Hezbollah’s military positions, strategic weapons production and storage facilities, and a rocket launch site. The statement argued that Hezbollah’s presence and weapons activities in these areas constitute a clear violation of agreements between Israel and Lebanon.

Ceasefire Violations
Despite a ceasefire agreement that came into effect on November 27, 2024, Israel has continued its air and ground attacks on southern Lebanon almost daily. Since the ceasefire, Israel has reportedly committed approximately 3,000 violations, resulting in at least 213 deaths and 508 injuries.

Strategic Heights Still Occupied
Although the Israeli military has partially withdrawn from southern Lebanon, it continues to occupy five strategic hills captured during recent clashes.
