Kokcha News Agency: US President Donald Trump has reiterated that the tariffs he has imposed on several countries, which he refers to as “reciprocal tariffs,” will come into effect on August 1, 2025, with no extensions or delays. In a message shared on Truth Social, Trump stated, “There will be no changes to this date, none whatsoever. In other words, all payments will be collected starting August 1, 2025, and there will be no extensions under any circumstances.”
New Tariffs on 14 Countries:
In a previous post, Trump published tariff letters sent to 14 countries, including Japan and South Korea, which were already subject to earlier tariffs. The new tariffs will also affect Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Tunisia, South Africa, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Serbia, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, and Burma.
Trump indicated in the letters that the tariffs could be adjusted based on the state of relations with each country. “These tariffs can be adjusted up or down depending on the relationship with your country,” Trump said, warning that rates could increase in the event of retaliation.
The new tariff rates are as follows:
- Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Tunisia: 25%
- South Africa, Bosnia and Herzegovina: 30%
- Indonesia: 32%
- Bangladesh, Serbia: 35%
- Cambodia, Thailand: 36%
- Laos, Burma: 40%
Trump had previously announced a 25% tariff on all products imported from Japan and South Korea, in addition to sector-specific tariffs.
Extension to August 1:
According to a presidential decree published on the White House website, the temporary 10% tariff reduction that Trump had previously implemented on April 9 has been extended until August 1. However, this extension does not apply to China. The Department of Commerce and other relevant agencies will make the necessary arrangements to enforce the decision.
