Ukraine Suffers Largest Air Attack Since Start of War; Trump Criticizes Putin and Reaffirms Military Aid

Ukraine has been hit by the largest air attack since the beginning of the war, with 728 drones and 13 ballistic missiles targeting cities across the country. The attack comes after U.S. President Donald Trump criticized Russian leader Vladimir Putin and announced the resumption of military aid to Ukraine.

Kokcha News Agency: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Ukraine has endured the largest air attack since the start of the war with Russia. The attack, carried out in multiple waves, involved 728 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and 13 ballistic missiles targeting cities across Ukraine.

Zelensky described the attack as “very significant,” stating, “This comes at a time when intense efforts are being made to secure peace and a ceasefire. But Russia continues to reject all these efforts.”

The nighttime attack followed former U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement that military aid to Ukraine would be resumed. Trump’s statement marked a reversal of last week’s decision to suspend aid, which U.S. media reported had been made without Trump’s knowledge.

In a statement on Tuesday, Trump expressed growing dissatisfaction with Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying, “Putin has been giving us a lot of nonsense, to be honest. He’s always been nice to us, but it doesn’t mean anything.”

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov responded to Trump’s comments by saying, “We are quite calm about this. Trump generally uses harsh language; his statements are like that.”

Trump and Putin are known to maintain regular contact, but these discussions have so far failed to yield concrete results in achieving a ceasefire in Ukraine. Trump has previously claimed that he could “achieve a ceasefire in one day.”

Following a phone call with Putin last week, Trump said, “I’m very unhappy,” adding, “He wants to keep going full speed ahead, killing people, and that’s not good.”

Trump’s criticism coincided with his administration’s announcement to suspend military aid to Ukraine. However, the decision has since been reversed, with plans to send 10 Patriot missile systems to Ukraine.

Ukraine relies on these defensive systems to counter Russia’s increasing missile and drone attacks. While the eastern part of the country and the capital Kyiv are frequently under fire, no corner of Ukraine is safe from Russian attacks.
