Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama Stuns at Rome Ukraine Summit with iconic kneel to Meloni

Kokcha News Agency reports that Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama attended the “Ukraine Recovery Conference” held in Rome, drawing significant attention with his distinctive greeting. During the opening of the conference, Rama knelt before Meloni in front of everyone, a gesture that caught many by surprise but has become a hallmark of his diplomatic style.

Initially, Meloni did not notice Rama’s gesture, but shortly after, she smiled and responded. This isn’t the first time Rama has used this symbolic act; it also occurred during the 6th European Political Community Summit in Tirana, where he knelt to greet Meloni again.

Behind this gesture lies a practical detail: Rama’s impressive height of 2 meters 5 centimeters likely influenced his decision to kneel to comfortably face the 1.5-meter-tall Meloni. Many commentators interpret this act as a blend of respect and humor, acknowledging the physical difference with a touch of light-heartedness.

In addition to his unique greeting, Rama drew attention with his fashion choice—wearing white sneakers under his suit, a footwear style he has been known for at international meetings. His casual yet approachable style continues to generate buzz on social media, sparking debates about diplomatic protocol and modern leadership images.

Rama’s relaxed approach, combined with his distinctive gestures and attire, often makes headlines, reflecting a break from traditional diplomatic formality and adding a fresh perspective to international diplomacy.
