Taliban Prime Minister Urges Iran to Respect Migrants’ Rights During Deportations
Taliban’s Prime Minister Mohammad Hassan Akhund urged Iran to avoid violations of migrants’ rights and humiliation during the ongoing deportations of Afghan refugees, emphasizing the importance of humane treatment and mutual respect.
Kokcha News Agency reports that Taliban Prime Minister Mohammad Hassan Akhund issued a statement expressing gratitude to Iran and its people for hosting Afghan migrants over the past four decades. However, he highlighted concerns regarding recent Iranian government decisions to deport migrants without legal documentation, which he called a decision made by Iranian authorities.
Akhund emphasized that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has repeatedly requested Iran to handle the deportation process gradually, with dignity, and in a spirit of good neighborliness. The Prime Minister urged Iran to respect the rights of Afghan migrants during the deportation process to prevent abuse and humiliation.
He also called on Afghan authorities to properly manage the migration process, ensuring the rights of migrants are protected and that the deportation occurs in accordance with international standards, maintaining mutual respect and cooperation.
