Trump Finds Rival: Suggested Nobel Peace Prize 2026 for UN Human Rights Expert Albaniz
European Parliament member Matias Nemeth has proposed that Francesca Albaniz, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Palestinian Territories, be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2026, citing her efforts in condemning Israel’s actions in Gaza.

Kokcha News Agency reports that Matias Nemeth, a member of the European Parliament, has put forward the idea of awarding the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize to Francesca Albaniz, the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Palestinian Territories. Nemeth emphasized Albaniz’s consistent stance against what she describes as Israel’s genocidal policies in Gaza, as well as her calls for accountability for those responsible for crimes against Palestinians.
Albaniz has publicly condemned Israel’s military operations in Gaza, labeling them as genocidal, and has repeatedly demanded international justice for Palestinian victims. The proposal to nominate her for the world’s most prestigious peace award comes amid ongoing debates and polarization surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
This development highlights a new “rivalry,” as former U.S. President Donald Trump is also reportedly seeking political recognition, but in a different arena—by proposing himself as a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2024, positioning herself as a prominent advocate for Palestinian rights gives Albaniz a significant role in global peace initiatives.
