Israel Attempted to Target Iran’s Supreme Leader After Striking Top Officials, Says Iran’s Former Security Chief
In a startling revelation, Ali Larijani, Iran’s ex-security chief, disclosed that Israel attempted to target Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei during a recent conflict, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing tensions between the two nations.

Reported by a reporter from Kokche News Agency
In a recent interview, Ali Larijani, former director of Iran’s National Security Council and a close advisor to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, revealed that Israel attempted to target Khamenei during the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran. According to Larijani, Israel launched an attack on the National Security Council’s meeting with the intention of eliminating Khamenei and other key figures, but their mission ultimately failed.
Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, has not made any public appearances since the Israeli airstrikes, sparking concerns about his safety and Iran’s leadership stability. Israel’s aggressive actions, which included attacks on military bases and headquarters of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, signaled their continued pressure on the Iranian regime. However, Khamenei has remained absent from the public eye since the attacks, adding further to the uncertainty.
Despite these tensions, the U.S. publicly stated that it knew Khamenei’s location but had no intention of taking action against him. The U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed this stance, revealing that he had known Khamenei’s whereabouts but decided not to allow Israeli or U.S. forces to eliminate him.
Larijani also recounted a personal threat he received from Israel on the first day of the conflict. He described receiving a warning that he had 12 hours to either leave Iran or distance himself from Tehran. If he refused, he was told that he would meet the same fate as other high-ranking Iranian officials, including Baqeri and Rashid. Larijani, in turn, traced the source of the call to Israel and responded accordingly.
In addition to the direct threats, The Washington Post reported that Israel conducted a covert campaign aimed at sowing confusion among Iran’s senior officials. According to the report, Israeli intelligence agents contacted high-ranking members of the Iranian government and warned them in Persian that they would only survive if they publicly renounced the Islamic Republic.
These developments come amid a broader covert operation by Israel to destabilize Iran’s political leadership. The ongoing war between Israel and Iran has become a pivotal point in the region’s geopolitical landscape. Israel’s apparent attempt to target Khamenei, coupled with the U.S. position on non-intervention, underscores the high-stakes nature of this conflict.
The reported Israeli efforts to undermine Iran’s leadership, if successful, could significantly alter the power balance in the region, further complicating an already volatile situation.
