Yulia Svyrydenko Approved as Ukraine’s New Prime Minister

Yulia Svyrydenko, appointed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as the new Prime Minister, has received parliamentary approval, marking a significant shift in the country’s executive leadership.

Kokcha News Agency: Yulia Svyrydenko, the newly appointed Prime Minister of Ukraine, has been confirmed by the Ukrainian Parliament, taking over from Denis Shmyhal, who has held the position since 2020. The 39-year-old Svyrydenko has been serving as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy since November 2021.

Svyrydenko played a key role in negotiations between Ukraine and the United States in May, signing an agreement on precious metals on behalf of her country. Before entering politics, she held various positions in both the private and public sectors.

In a 450-seat parliament, 262 lawmakers voted in favor of Svyrydenko’s appointment, according to opposition MP Oleksiy Honcharenko.

President Zelensky, in a statement on X (formerly Twitter), announced, “We are initiating a transformation in Ukraine’s executive branch. I have invited Yulia Svyrydenko to lead the Ukrainian government and significantly improve its work.” Zelensky also expressed his eagerness to present the new government’s action plan in the near future.

Yulia Svyrydenko’s appointment as Prime Minister signals a new chapter in Ukraine’s governance, with a focus on enhancing government efficiency and addressing key economic challenges.
